Taipei, Jan. 7 (CNA) The net inflow of funds from foreign institutional investors set a new high in 2024, amid global interest in advances in artificial intelligence and Taiwan's tech sector, according to the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). Data compiled by the FSC, the top financial regulator in Taiwan, showed that foreign institutional investors registered a net fund inflow of US$37.196 billion in 2024, the highest level since the commission began tallying such flows in 2011.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Environment said Thursday that carbon inventory will be expanded to service sectors with high energy consumption. The policy will encompass other high-energy sectors, including transportation, medical institutions, schools, and small- to medium-sized manufacturers. Facilities emitting more than 5,000 tonnes of carbon annually at a single site or exceeding 10,000 tonnes across the entire company will be subject to regulations, per CNA.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s revenues for the fourth quarter and year reached record highs. On Friday, TSMC reported net revenue for December reached NT$278.163 billion (US$8.437 billion), up 0.8% from November, marking the second-highest monthly revenue in its history, per CNA. TSMC’s self-reported fourth-quarter revenue reached NT$868.461 billion, setting a new quarterly record and exceeding expectations with an increase of 14.32%.
Taiwan technology minister Wu Cheng-wen has confirmed talks are ongoing with Amazon's Project Kuiper subsidiary to boost satellite-based communications. The minister also nodded to possible collaborations with Elon Musk's Starlink on certain conditions.
