Taipei, May 6 (CNA) The Taipei Computer Association (TCA) held an AI forum on Tuesday ahead of Computex Taipei 2025, a major international exhibition focused on AIoT and startups that will open later this month. The AI Next Forum was created to foster industry dialogue and showcase innovative AI applications -- from cloud to edge computing -- that are expected to drive digital transformation and create new business opportunities worldwide, said TCA Chairman Paul Peng (彭双浪) at the forum's opening.


Taipei, May 7 (CNA) Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., an electric vehicle developing subsidiary of Taiwan-based manufacturing giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corp. for EV development. Under the MOU, Foxtron Vehicle will develop and supply an EV model to Mitsubishi Motors on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis, the company said in a statement. In a separate statement, Mitsubishi Motors said the two sides have decided to proceed with further discussions for the cooperation toward a definitive agreement.


Paris, May 10 (CNA) Innovations from Taiwan have won six gold medals at the 124th edition of the Concours Lépine, an annual invention competition held in Paris. The six Taiwanese gold medalists stood out among 250 competitors at the award ceremony on Friday night, with jury president René Lavergne praising them for embodying the spirit of the century-old event. "Taiwan really shows the spirit of the Concours Lépine. These are the inventions we are looking for -- something creative, voluntary, and contributing to society," Lavergne said.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Evergreen Marine Corp. partnered with Chunghwa Telecom to implement smart container operations at Kaohsiung Port's seventh container terminal, CNA reported on Wednesday. According to Evergreen Marine, its operators previously worked high up in bridge cranes and manually verified container numbers. The company said the partnership with Chunghwa Telecom will automate container operations and speed up loading and unloading.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — After departing Gongtian Temple in Miaoli on May 2, the annual Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage completed its return trip in central Taiwan on Sunday afternoon. Despite the heavy rain, large crowds gathered around the Gongtian Temple in Miaoli to welcome Mazu’s return after her journey of over 300 kilometers. After 10 days traveling to Beigang Chaotian Temple in Yunlin and back, the pink palanquin carrying the goddess’ idol arrived at about 3:45 p.m., reported UDN.
