Taiwan-Singapore trade surged 94.1% year over year to NT$3.78 trillion (S$152 billion) in the first half of 2026, Representative to Singapore Tung Chen-yuan said Monday. Taiwan surpassed China and Malaysia in 2025 to become Singapore’s largest trading partner for the first time, with bilateral goods trade reaching NT$4.24 trillion, up 46% from a year earlier, per CNA. Tung said Taiwan is likely to retain its position as Singapore’s largest trading partner for a second consecutive year.

Google is expanding its Taiwan office space by 60 percent as local partners take on a growing role in developing the company's artificial intelligence infrastructure, a senior executive said Wednesday. Amin Vahdat, Google's senior vice president and chief technologist for AI and infrastructure, said the company expected its operations in Taiwan to continue growing, although he did not provide an investment figure, hiring target or timetable for the expansion.

At this year’s Semicon trade show, the US states of California and Arizona are competing to attract Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. But uncertainty around chip tariffs and permitting constraints could pose challenges for businesses looking to expand in these two leading US technology hubs.

Taoyuan Aerotropolis announced Friday that its Asia Silicon Valley project and adjacent land are open to investment, according to a press release. The Aerotropolis said it is seeking investors with extensive development and operational experience for 3.81 hectares of industrial land and 1.76 hectares of residential land. The site is near the Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Center and HSR Taoyuan Station and is connected to the broader Taoyuan Aerotropolis and international airport via the Airport MRT.

Taoyuan International Airport Corporation confirmed on Wednesday that the Terminal 3 project will be completed by the end of 2027. Corporation President Fan Hsiao-lun said the project is a major national infrastructure undertaking, complex in scope. However, once finished, it will enhance the airport’s overall operational capacity, according to a company press release.
