TSMC is reportedly considering Texas for a second US chipmaking hub, with investment potentially exceeding the NT$8.42 trillion (US$265 billion) planned for its Arizona operations. Dallas is reportedly a leading candidate for the proposed campus, per UDN. The report said the expansion could create a semiconductor corridor linking TSMC’s Arizona wafer manufacturing operations with Texas’ advanced technology ecosystem.

Taiwan Tourism Administration launched an outdoor advertising campaign across Singapore’s transit network on September 22. It targets repeat visitors after logging 1.35 million trips from the city-state between 2023 and 2025. Taiwan Branded wraps and station takeovers cover public buses, taxis, and Mass Rapid Transit stations under the theme Taiwan 100 Ways. Singapore-born illustrator Tiffany Lovage designed the artwork. Visuals group activities under three categories: ecology, lifestyle of health and sustainability, and food. Featured itineraries highlight surfing, diving, hot-air ballooning, and trips on the Taiwan Railway Administration’s Haifeng and Shanlan scenic tourist trains.

Taiwan remained the 19th-largest source market for long-haul visitors to the US, recording 315,000 visits from January through August, reports said Tuesday. The figure represented an increase of 8.4% from the same period last year, according to the Discover America Committee in Taiwan. Committee Chair Brenda Tang said visitor numbers had grown steadily despite rising fuel prices, per CNA.

Speaking to overseas Taiwanese businesspeople, Lai recalled that Taiwan established its first export processing zone in Kaohsiung 60 years ago. He described the move as an early step in the integration with the global economy. Lai praised businesspeople who ventured overseas to establish businesses and develop markets around the world. Today, he said, Taiwanese companies are at the forefront of semiconductors and AI. Lai cited Taiwan's economic growth of 8.76% in 2025 and the government's latest forecast of 11.05% growth for 2026. He also pointed to Taiwan's fourth-place ranking in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Ranking, the country's highest position since it entered the assessment in 1997.

Simple Mart Retail's board approved an organizational restructuring on the 22nd, transferring its retail channel brands—including Simple Mart, Simple Mart Market, Simple Mart Convenience Rack, and Go Simple Mart—to its wholly owned subsidiary Fuda Retail through a corporate split, with the split record date tentatively set for January 1, 2027. The transferred business value is estimated at NT$250 million (approximately $7.9 million). Simple Mart Retail itself will transform into an investment holding company and be renamed Zhonglian Investment Holdings, while keeping its stock code 2945 unchanged. Following the split, Fuda Retail will integrate OKmart and the newly added physical retail brands; GoDa Marketing will focus on logistics; Sanyou Pharmacy and Pet Good Things will each continue in their respective domains. The proposals will be discussed at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on November 18.
