TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles said Sunday that more than 300 “TSMC babies” have been born locally, reflecting the growth of Taiwanese communities alongside TSMC’s industrial expansion in Arizona. The Los Angeles office held a Lunar New Year gathering on Sunday, attended by several elected officials, including US Rep. Judy Chu and California State Assemblymember Mike Fong, per CNA. Director-General Amino Chi (紀欽耀) said Taiwan-US trade has grown closer since TSMC began building fabs in Arizona.



TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan will host the Taiwan International Orchid Show and Flower Technology Expo at the Orchid Biotechnology Park in Houbi District from Friday through March 16. CNA reported that this year’s expo will combine artificial intelligence with art to give visitors a new way to experience flowers. The show will feature orchids with inkjet-printed designs inspired by artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Katsushika Hokusai, along with glasses-free 3D displays.


Taipei, Feb. 28 (CNA) Taiwan is ranked No. 2 in the latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor's (GEM) National Entrepreneurial Context Index (NECI), which assesses the startup business environment in different countries.In its 2025-2026 global report released Friday, the GEM, the only global research organization that collects data directly from entrepreneurs, said Taiwan's score in the NECI rose from 6.3 in 2024 to 6.5 in 2025, making it second highest among the 53 participating economies.


Kaohsiung, Feb. 25 (CNA) The Port of Kaohsiung and the Port of Subic Bay in the Philippines officially signed a sister-port agreement Wednesday, marking an expansion of maritime cooperation between Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The signing ceremony was held during the 14th anniversary celebration of Taiwan International Ports Corp. (TIPC) at the Port of Kaohsiung Cruise Terminal and drew more than 200 participants, including senior officials and industry representatives.



"Sunshine Women's Choir," a Taiwanese prison drama, has become the highest-earning domestically made film to hit Taiwan's box offices.
