Taipei, April 18 (CNA) Taiwan's Legislative Yuan on Friday passed a law amendment to include tax credits for businesses that invest in artificial intelligence (AI) and carbon emissions reduction technologies. Under the amended Statute for Industrial Innovation, the ceiling for the amount eligible to be claimed as tax credits in the same taxable year has also been raised from NT$1 billion (US$30.67 million) to NT$2 billion.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s inbound investment surged to NT$73.1 billion (US$2.25 billion) from January to March, the economics ministry said Wednesday. According to a press release, for the first three months of the year, foreign investment cases fell by 7.44% to 473, but the value surged due to several high-profile projects. These include Google’s NT$7 billion investment and Amazon’s NT$2.59 billion injection into its Taiwan data center, per CNA.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Sinyi Global Asset Management Incorporation said Wednesday that commercial office transactions in New Taipei reached NT$11.3 billion (US$353 million) last year. The figure showed a 45% increase compared to 2023, setting a record since the implementation of actual-price registration for real estate. Commercial office deals in the Xinzhuang District led with NT$6.1 billion, or 54% of the total transaction volume, per CNA.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kaohsiung's healthcare was ranked first in the world in Numbeo's survey of cities.  Under the online database's Health Care Index by City 2025, Kaohsiung scored 88.6 out of 100. Taipei was close behind at 86.7, followed by Makati, Chiang Mai, Seoul, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Madrid, and Valencia, rounding out the top 10.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan has issued more than 700 special employment gold cards to digital experts since launching the program nearly two years ago, the Ministry of Digital Affairs said Saturday. As of the end of February, 764 applicants had received gold cards, with 60% specializing in software development, per CNA. Others were primarily engaged in fields such as computer program design, online trade, and cybersecurity.
