Through smart planning, savvy investing and stakeholder alignment, the Valley’s reputation as a nascent industrial powerhouse is spreading. TSMC’s $165 billion campus in North Phoenix is symbolic of the region’s transformation away from the boom-bust cycle that left it vulnerable during the 2008 financial crisis and towards a more resilient, diversified economy. To help meet the demand generated by TSMC’s substantial investment, Mack Real Estate Group (MREG) and McCourt Partners will host a ceremonial groundbreaking for Halo Vista — a $7 billion master-planned mixed-use development abutting TSMC — on March 26. Billed as a “city within a city,” Halo Vista’s 2,300-acre footprint aims to create an innovation hub anchored by Greater Phoenix’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, offering nearly 30 million square feet of industrial, retail, office, research and healthcare spaces, along with hotels and upward of 9,000 residential units.
Forest Endeavour, a property development company controlled by Taiwanese billionaire Lin Chen-hai, has acquired a major mixed-use property on Australia’s Gold Coast for AUD346.5 million (US$250 million). The deal involves the Paradise Centre and Novotel Surfers Paradise in Queensland, which were purchased from Abu Dhabi Investment Corp. and Challenger Life after a competitive bidding process, according to Forbes.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s economics ministry said it will help local companies expand in the US as about 20 firms prepare investment plans worth up to NT$1.1 trillion (US$35 billion), CNA reported Sunday. The ministry said Taiwan and the US are deepening cooperation to strengthen Taiwan’s role in the AI industry. Economics Minister Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫) recently led a group of Taiwan business representatives to meet US officials and industry leaders.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — EVA Air has been named a five-star airline for a record 11th consecutive year, reports said Wednesday. No other airline has received the honor so many times from consulting firm Skytrax, according to EVA Air. The star system was introduced in 1999 and is based on reviews of in-flight service, food quality, in-flight comfort, entertainment choices, and the attitudes of flight attendants and ground staff, per CNA.
Taipei, May 10 (CNA) Taiwanese fire dancer Yang Li-wei (楊立微) advanced to the final of Britain's Got Talent on Sunday (Taiwan time), after receiving a Golden Buzzer during her live semifinal performance. Yang, a member of Taiwan's Coming True Fire Group, stunned judges and audiences with a high-intensity fire performance featuring flaming umbrellas, fire swallowing and spinning metal structures balanced with her legs.
