〔Focus Taiwan〕Taiwan Expo in Europe opens in Warsaw
Warsaw, June 23 (CNA) The Taiwan Expo in Europe 2026 opened in Warsaw on Monday, with Taiwanese and European officials highlighting growing cooperation in sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing, alongside plans for a technology park in Miękinia. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Taiwan Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Cynthia Kiang (江文若) said Poland has become a key partner for Taiwan's entry into the European market, noting that bilateral trade has grown by 20 percent since the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in 2018.
Taipei, June 27 (CNA) A total of 500 kilograms of Taiwan's famous Irwin mangoes will be air-shipped to the United Kingdom on Sunday, according to the Tainan City government, in a first such shipment of the popular fruit. According to the city government, the Tainanese Irwin mangoes will be the first batch of Taiwanese mangoes to be shipped to the U.K.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — EVA Air on Friday launched Taiwan's first nonstop passenger service to Washington, D.C., with four weekly flights. AIT Director Raymond Greene called the route an "unprecedented milestone" in expanding US-Taiwan trade and cultural ties, per CNA. The service operates between Taoyuan and Washington Dulles International Airport using a three-class Boeing 787-9 with EVA Air's fourth-generation Premium Economy cabin.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Canadian scholar George S. Takach has published “Inspired by Taiwan,” a new book arguing that support for Taiwan is important to protecting global democracy, CNA reported Monday. Takach, a senior fellow at the University of Toronto, worked as a technology lawyer for nearly 40 years. He initially planned to write about democracy more broadly, but after learning more about Taiwan and visiting in 2023, he decided to focus the book on Taiwan.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Taiwanese startup won the top AI prize at VivaTech 2026 in Paris as a 34-company delegation showcased Taiwan’s tech capabilities and sought to expand in European markets. The Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration partnered with the National Science and Technology Council’s Taiwan Tech Arena and the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Department of Industrial Technology to lead startups and supply chain partners to the event. The delegation exhibited under the “AI Taiwan” theme, focusing on AI, net-zero sustainability, and smart healthcare, the administration said in a press release.
