〔Taiwan News〕Taiwan hosts ecological tour on northeast coast
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tourism Administration’s Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area recently hosted a two-day eco-tour from Thursday to Friday showcasing the region’s unique culture, fishing traditions, and geological features. The tour spanned from Yilan’s Toucheng Township to New Taipei’s Ruifang District, offering an immersive experience of the local fishing villages and natural landscapes, per the administration's press release.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission held a launch ceremony Tuesday for its Asia Innovation Capital project to boost the country’s capital market and draw global startups, CNA reported. FSC Vice Chair Chuang Hsiu-yuan (莊琇媛) said the project reflects Taiwan’s ambition to combine finance and innovation. She described it as a new milestone that could help the country discover its next generation of industrial leaders.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs said Tuesday that this year’s Taiwan Business Alliance Conference attracted NT$160 billion (US$5.2 billion) in investment commitments from 25 foreign companies, underscoring Taiwan’s appeal as a global investment hub, per CNA.
Manila, Oct. 20 (CNA) Taiwan is ranked the 8th top investor in Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Special Economic Zones, an official said in a recent interview. PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga told CNA in early October that 84 Taiwanese companies had invested in the 431 economic zones under PEZA as of December 2024. The ecozones are currently home to over 4,300 investments in areas such as manufacturing, information technology (IT), agro-processing and tourism, Panga said, adding that Taiwanese companies have invested over US$593.04 million, with US$872 million in export revenues and creating over 28,000 jobs in the ecozones.
Rome, Oct. 25 (CNA) "Left-Handed Girl" (左撇子女孩), a film by Taiwanese director Tsou Shih-ching (鄒時擎) and co-written by Oscar-winning director Sean Baker, won Best Film at the International Rome Film Fest on Saturday. Shot entirely on an iPhone, the plot of Left-handed Girl follows the eponymous character who is forced to move to Taipei from the countryside with her sister and mother. Narrated from the perspective of the left-handed girl, each member of the family of three has to find their place in a new environment while trying to figure out the nuances of the family's dynamics.
