TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said Taiwan and Japan will anchor the world’s next generation of computing as AI accelerates global demand for advanced chips, Nikkei Asia reported Monday. “I really think of Taiwan and Japan as the two most unique countries in Asia for technology,” he said, praising their unmatched ecosystems. “If I only had two plane tickets to spend, those are the two.”

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung’s Central Taiwan Science Park is riding a tech boom as global AI demand drives workforce and revenue gains. Driven by global demand for AI and high-tech products, the park’s workforce reached 60,859 by the end of October, a 12.5% increase from last year, per CNA.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 3 is set to begin trial operations on Monday. The new terminal, which was initially planned to open in September, will welcome the first passengers to the North Concourse on Dec. 1, per CNA. The North Concourse will add an additional eight gates to facilitate international air travel.

Taipei, Nov. 25 (CNA) ASE Technology Holding Co. is expanding its advanced IC assembly and testing capacity in Taoyuan and Kaohsiung to meet sustained strong demand generated by the artificial intelligence boom. In a statement posted on the Taiwan Stock Exchange where ASE Technology shares are traded, the company said wholly owned subsidiary Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE) will buy a newly built factory from affiliate Hung Ching Development & Construction Co. in Zhongli District in Taoyuan for about NT$4.23 billion (US$134 million).
