Taipei, Jan. 23 (CNA) Taiwan's government on Thursday pledged to reduce carbon emissions between 26 and 30 percent by 2030 compared to 2005 levels, saying the more ambitious goal reflected the nation's commitment to net zero. Speaking as the Presidential Office's climate change committee convened for the third time, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) announced what he called the government's "more ambitious carbon reduction targets."
Taipei, Jan. 24 (CNA) On the back of strong domestic demand, Taiwan saw retail sales and revenue generated by its food and beverage sectors hit record highs in 2024, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Data compiled by the MOEA showed retail sales rose 2.6 percent from a year earlier to NT$4.85 trillion (US$148 billion) in 2024, while revenue posted by the food and beverage industry rose 3.6 percent from a year earlier to NT$1.04 trillion in 2024.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tanvex Biopharma announced it will rebrand as Bora Biologics on Monday after acquiring the company from Bora Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest listed companies of its type in Taiwan. The newly named company said it plans to use the business to expand its contract manufacturing and development services globally. CEO Stephen Lam said Tanvex would adopt the name Bora Biologics to “honor the legacy, reputation, and partnership power of a Bora brand.”
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The World Economic Forum announced Wednesday that Taiwan High Speed Rail ranked fifth in the “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations.” THSR General Manager James Jeng (鄭光遠) said the company has remained in the top 10 sustainable companies for three consecutive years since its debut on the list in 2023. It also ranked first in the "transit and ground transportation group" and the "transportation infrastructure industry," per CNA.
