Every week, we'll select Taiwan's five business news from the previous week for your review.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission aims for NT$10 trillion (US$318.4 billion) in non-cash transactions this year, expecting around eight billion payments, CNA reported Wednesday. Non-cash payments include methods other than physical cash, such as credit cards, stored-value cards, electronic transfers, and ATM transactions. Last year, these payments reached 8.7 billion, a 5.1% increase from 2024, totaling NT$8.7 trillion, up 5.3% from a year earlier.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — What began as a small-town revitalization project has expanded as teams navigated strict standards to land locally selected products on shelves at Taipei 101, CNA reported Thursday. Backed by the National Development Council, the program has helped promising regional goods enter retail channels. Since October, 57 food items and 20 non-food products have been listed at Mia C’bon in Taipei 101 and at Carrefour’s Chongqing and Neihu concept stores.

Taipei, Feb. 11 (CNA) The Taipei City government on Wednesday signed a NT$12.2 billion (US$380 million) agreement with Nvidia for the T17 and T18 plots of land at Beitou-Shilin Technology Park, with Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) saying construction could begin as early as June. The deal grants the AI chipmaker 50-year land surface rights, extendable by up to 20 years, Chiang said at a press conference.

Each zodiac year corresponds to one of the Five Elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. On February 17, 2026, we officially enter the Year of the Fire Horse, lasting until February 20, 2027. “Fire” is the element, “Horse” the zodiac sign—and together they create a rare combination that appears only once every 60 years. Historically and symbolically, the Fire Horse is associated with intense momentum, restlessness, and catalytic change.
