Taipei, May 12 (CNA) Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) ranked the 10th most valuable company globally in 2025, according to Canadian-based market information advisory firm Visual Capitalist. In its top 50 most valuable company rankings in the world for 2025, Visual Capitalist said TSMC sat on about US$915 billion in market cap as of May 5, making it the 10th most valuable company in the world and No. 1 in Asia.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — FamilyMart Taiwan said Tuesday that it has hired immigrant workers from several countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Myanmar, to work as store clerks. FamilyMart Taiwan Board Director Hsueh Tung-tu (薛東都) said that it is partnering with the Pearl S. Buck Foundation on an initiative to hire immigrant workers. The company noted that it employed immigrant workers at one of its stores and plans to expand the program to its other locations, per CNA.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News)— Construction began Tuesday on a 71-hectare industrial park in Yunlin's Gukeng Township. Yunlin’s Construction Department said that 45 hectares of the park will be designated for industrial use, with completion expected in 2028. The department estimates that the park will generate an annual output value of NT$10.2 billion (US$334 million) and provide approximately 3,000 jobs, per CNA.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's first airport pet drop-off facility began trial operations Friday at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, offering greater convenience for travelers with pets. Developed by I-Mei Gourmet Supplier Corp. and Hi Pet Chan, “Terminal P” is located in the Northern Sky Town commercial zone on the north side of Terminal 2’s departure hall. Outbound passengers can drop off their pets before boarding.


Over 25,000 athletes from 100 countries are in Taiwan for the 2025 World Masters Games, which officially kicked off on Friday. Aside from being the first World Masters Games in Asia, the games also mark many other firsts for Taiwan.
