• 〔Taiwan News〕Taiwan becomes world's 5th largest stock market

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s stock market capitalization has surpassed India’s, making it the world’s fifth-largest equity market, driven by a strong rally in TSMC amid continued investor enthusiasm over AI-related technology stocks. Taiwan’s stock market capitalization rose to US$4.95 trillion (NT$155.65 trillion) as of Monday, while India’s market value had fallen to US$4.92 trillion, per Bloomberg. Taiwan now trails only the US, China, Japan, and Hong Kong markets.

• 〔Taiwan News〕Taiwan’s Eslite plans Osaka store as it eyes Japan expansion

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Eslite Spectrum will open a store in Osaka next year and is already discussing a third Japan location as the retailer pushes toward NT$30 billion (US$954 million) in revenue by 2028. The company posted NT$26 billion in group sales last year and operates at 49 locations across Taiwan and in overseas markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Suzhou, per CNA.

• 〔Moea〕Sales of Wholesale, Retail and Food Services in April 2026

Sales of wholesale trade were NT$1,543.0 billion in April 2026, and increased by 25.2% compared with the same month in 2025. Retail trade sales were NT$404.8 billion in April 2026, and increased by 5.2% on a yoy basis. Sales of food and beverage services were NT$85.2 billion in April 2026, and increased by 4.5% on a yoy basis.

• 〔Taiwan News〕Credit card spending by Japanese visitors in Taiwan surges 14.28%

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The amount of money spent by Japanese credit card holders in Taiwan surged 14.28% last year to NT$6.8 billion (US$216.15 million), the National Credit Card Center said Thursday. The number of transactions also rose 33.01% from 2024 to reach 4.67 million, per CNA. Tourism Administration data showed the number of Japanese visitors in Taiwan surged 17.3% to 1.48 million last year, outpacing the 9% increase of all foreign tourists to 8.57 million.

• 〔Taiwan News〕Taiwan’s Una wins Red Bull Dance Your Style qualifier in Philadelphia

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese dancer Una has claimed the Northeast Qualifier title of Red Bull Dance Your Style, completing a rapid rise from her first appearance in the competition to a regional championship within weeks. The competition has no pre-set choreography. Dancers perform entirely freestyle, without rehearsed routines, according to Red Bull.
