Taipei, June 25 (CNA) Taiwan has outperformed global averages in multiple financial inclusion categories, according to a report released Monday by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). Financial inclusion, also known as inclusive finance, is a concept adopted by the United Nations in the 2000s that refers to ensuring that all members of society have equal access to responsible and sustainable financial services.
Taipei, June 25 (CNA) The Food Taipei Mega Shows 2025 opened Wednesday at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, featuring a record-breaking scale with over 1,700 exhibitors, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra), the event organizer. This year's event, which runs through Saturday, consists of five concurrent exhibitions: Food Taipei (Taipei Food Show), Foodtech Taipei, Bio/Pharmatech Taiwan, Taipei Pack and Taiwan Horeca, which showcases the latest hospitality and restaurant equipment. The event is expected to attract 45,000 visitors, according to Taitra.
Taipei, June 26 (CNA) Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) instructed the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Thursday to work closely with local governments based on a draft plan to transform central Taiwan into a smart manufacturing hub under the government's plan to level up regions around the country. Cho issued the instruction during a weekly Cabinet meeting, after a draft plan aimed at turning central Taiwan into a global hub of smart manufacturing with existing industries and new businesses was presented and approved, the Cabinet said in a statement.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taishin Financial Holding and Shin Kong Financial Holding will complete their merger on July 24, forming Taiwan’s fourth-largest financial holding company by assets. The merger received shareholder approval at both companies’ extraordinary general meetings on Oct. 9 last year. Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission approved the deal on Jan. 9, followed by the Financial Supervisory Commission’s final approval on March 31, per CNA.

Dubbed Taiwan’s “sacred mountain,” the chipmaker was recognized for producing the “brains” behind everything from smartphones to data centers, with surging demand for advanced AI chips driving its Q1 revenue beyond market expectations, per CNA.
