TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has received NT$142.3 billion (US$4.7 billion) in subsidies from the US, Germany, Japan, and China to support its global expansion over the past 18 months. The company secured NT$67.1 billion in subsidies in the first half of this year alone, according to its latest financial reports, per CNA. The funds cover property, plant, and equipment costs, along with expenses related to construction and operations at overseas plants.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The seventh lunar month, referred to in Taiwanese culture as "Ghost Month," occurs later than usual this year, with the official opening of the "Gates of Hell" at 11 p.m. on Friday. Every three years, a leap month is added to synchronize the lunar calendar with the solar year. The lunar year is based on the moon's cycles, approximately 11 days shorter than a solar year, which is based on the Earth's orbit around the sun.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — E-commerce firm Momo on Wednesday held a topping-out ceremony for its new Changhua logistics center, aiming to speed up same-day deliveries and generate hundreds of jobs. The NT$7.6 billion (US$249 million) facility will serve as its biggest hub in central Taiwan and is scheduled for completion in 2027, per CNA. The eight-story complex, with two underground levels, will cover about 128,700 square meters, per Anue.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taichung Aquarium opened Thursday, offering visitors an immersive experience that goes beyond simply observing marine life. Built around the theme “from the rivers of Taichung to the world’s oceans,” the aquarium takes guests on a flowing journey that begins in mountain streams and extends to the open sea. The exhibits are designed not just to recreate ecosystems, but to present them from a fresh perspective, the aquarium told Taiwan News.
