TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei has been ranked the world’s ninth most connected city in a new report by the ground transportation platform Mozio. Dubai topped the list with an overall score of 7.2 out of 10, followed by Florence, Prague, Malaga, and Vienna. Sydney, Singapore, Berlin, Taipei, and Amsterdam rounded out the top 10, according to a press release.

Organized by Taoyuan Aerotropolis Co., Ltd., the “Runway to Future” Forum took place on October 21, gathering distinguished leaders from industry, government, academia, and research. The discussions revolved around three major themes, “Economy × Technology: The Smart Hub for Future Industries,” “AI × Innovation: Driving Global Competitiveness,” and “Talent × City: Building a Stage for the Next Generation.”

Taipei, Nov. 18 (CNA) Taiwan and Israel on Monday signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to strengthen cooperation on intellectual property and speed up patent reviews during a bilateral economic and technological discussion held via videoconference. The agreements aim to streamline patent examination procedures and enhance intellectual property protection between the two sides, the International Trade Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said in a news release.

San Jose/Taipei, Nov. 21 (CNA) Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) Chairman C.C. Wei (魏哲家) and the company's former chairman, Mark Liu (劉德音), both received the Robert N. Noyce Award -- the semiconductor industry's highest honor -- in San Jose, California, on Thursday (local time). Speaking at the award event, Liu, who retired last year, expressed gratitude to his wife, his dissertation advisor at the University of California, Berkeley, his supervisors at AT&T Bell Laboratories -- where he worked on optical fiber communication systems before joining TSMC, TSMC partners, and industry colleagues.

Google has opened a new R&D center in Taipei, reinforcing Taiwan’s role as the company’s largest AI hardware engineering hub outside the US. President Lai Ching-te and the US representative to Taiwan Raymond Greene attended the opening. The expansion comes as other tech heavyweights, including Nvidia, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AMD, also ramp up their presence in Taiwan.
