Taipei, Feb. 7 (CNA) Taiwan's exports rose for the 15th consecutive month in year-over-year terms in January on the back of a boom of artificial intelligence development, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said Friday. Data compiled by the MOF showed the country's exports rose 4.4 percent from a year earlier to US$38.71 billion in January, beating an earlier forecast of US$35.6 billion to US$36.7 billion, down 1-4 percent from a year earlier.


Los Angeles, Feb. 9 (CNA) Acclaimed Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee (李安), who has won two Oscars and other awards over the past few years, received the Directors Guild of America's (DGA) 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday. "Born and raised in Taiwan it feels like a realization of the American dream to be here on this stage. I am a dreamer at my core. My dreams are not just an individual experience, there is a link through the collective consciousness and unconsciousness," Lee said at the ceremony after receiving his award from Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊).


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) 1 nm process fab may be built in Tainan’s Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, UDN reported Monday. According to reports, the Giga-Fab, designated as Fab 25, will house six fabs. Industry sources say TSMC has submitted a land request to the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau for 1.4 nm and 1 nm chip production in Shalun.


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An Estonian defense industry delegation visited Taiwan from Tuesday to Saturday to foster cooperation in the drone industry. Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) and the delegation led by Estonia-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair Kristo Enn Vaga attended a dinner hosted by the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA) on Thursday.
