TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung’s Hanshin Intercontinental Shopping Plaza exceeded early sales expectations in its first month after opening on April 10. The development generated more than NT$1 billion (US$31.6 million) in its first month. It also recorded 1.35 million visits, according to UDN Money. The mall had originally set a target of more than NT$7 billion for its first eight months. Management is now considering an upward revision following the strong debut.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. made more profit at its Arizona operations in the first quarter of 2026 than in all of last year, while its Kumamoto joint venture turned a profit for the first time, reports said Saturday. The plant near Phoenix reported NT$18.8 billion (US$595.58 million) in profit for January-March, compared to NT$16.14 billion for all of 2025, per CNA. Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing made a profit of NT$951 million during the first quarter, following a loss of NT$3.24 billion for all of last year.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs drone team signed a letter of intent with the US-based Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International to conduct exchanges in training and certification, reports said Wednesday. The signing took place at Xponential 2026 in Detroit, Michigan. The US association praised Taiwan for its speed, scale, resilience, and leadership excellence, per CNA.
