TAIPEI (Taiwan News)–Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said Wednesday that Taiwan has the rare opportunity to build an Asian Asset Management Center in Kaohsiung that could surpass Hong Kong and Singapore. At Asia Summit 2026 in Kaohsiung, hosted by the Commercial Times, Cho said that Kaohsiung has transitioned from heavy industry to technology, tourism, and financial services. He said this model could be replicated elsewhere to scale up the industry.
〔Taipei Times〕Turn Cloud eyes global market
Digital retail solutions provider Turn Cloud Technology Service Inc (騰雲科技) yesterday said that expanding artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and agentic AI are accelerating demand for its software-as-a-service offerings. Turn Cloud’s digital operating platforms for commercial spaces help office buildings, shopping malls, retailers, hotels and other businesses integrate customer data and Internet of Things (IoT) devices to improve operational efficiency, the company said in an online earnings conference. Demand is strong for AI software infrastructure, digital transformation and smart-space solutions, Turn Cloud executive vice president Ting Chang (張婷婷) said.
Taipei, July 8 (CNA) EVA Air has been named the world's best international airline in Travel + Leisure's 2026 World's Best Awards, marking the first time the Taiwanese carrier has taken the top spot in the annual readers' survey. According to the global travel magazine on Tuesday, EVA Air ranked first among international airlines after receiving a score of 91.63 from more than 200,000 readers who participated in this year's survey, surpassing Qatar Airways and Emirates.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Academia Sinica on Monday raised its forecast for Taiwan's 2026 economic growth to 10.16%. The revised forecast is 6.45 percentage points higher than the institute's previous estimate, per UDN. It is also the highest 2026 GDP forecast among Taiwan's major economic think tanks. Lin Chang-ching (林常青), a research fellow at Academia Sinica's Institute of Economics, said tariff uncertainty had prompted a cautious outlook late last year. He said easing trade risks and strong AI demand have improved the growth outlook by driving productivity and infrastructure investment.
