TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Far Eastern Sogo Chair Sophia Huang (黃晴雯) said Tuesday that the group’s new department store, Garden City, at Taipei Dome is expected to open in the second half of this year, creating a new shopping corridor linking Taipei’s East District and Xinyi shopping district. Speaking at a shareholders meeting, Huang said Garden City is projected to generate NT$10 billion (US$307 million) in revenue next year and establish “three-way competition” with Sogo’s Zhongxiao and Fuxing department stores, per CNA.

Taipei, June 12 (CNA) Taiwan is expected to begin accepting applications as early as July for a government-backed credit guarantee program designed to support Taiwanese companies investing in the United States, Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun (鄭麗君) said Friday. Speaking at a ceremony marking the signing of a letter of intent for the "Financing Guarantee Mechanism for Enterprise Investment in the United States," Cheng said the program will help Taiwanese businesses expand their overseas presence.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and South Korea’s tourism sectors are seeking ways to bring more South Korean visitors to southern Taiwan. During the 39th Taiwan-Korea Tourism Exchange Conference on Thursday, Tourism Administration Deputy Director-General Huang Shih-fang (黃勢芳) said the Taiwan-South Korea tourism market showed strong growth momentum in 2025, with two-way visits reaching 2.85 million, per CNA. Of that figure, more than 1.01 million South Korean travelers visited Taiwan, Huang said.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese fan tuan, a sticky rice breakfast roll, has gained attention in the US as diners share videos of the filling dish and call it a “Taiwanese burrito,” Marie Claire Taiwan reported. Fan tuan is often filled with fried dough, pork floss, pickled vegetables, and egg. It is a common breakfast food in Taiwan and is known for being filling.
